In the mid October the city of Ljubljana hosted the Interreg MED Community Conference, gathering managers, experts and consultants in the energy efficiency in buildings and renewable energy, coming from local, regional and national authorities, businesses, industry associations and NGOs. The aim was to highlight the mid-term results achieved by the on-going Interreg MED projects dealing with efficient buildings and renewable energy.
The first day was dedicated to build capacity of the MED community through sharing the knowledge resulting from the modular projects. Opening was held by Dr. Lučka Kajfež Bogataj and a representative of the European Investment Bank. Workshops and trainings sessions trigger synergies between participants also by educating and sharing innovative ideas. Additional value has been achieved by formulating recommendations for the improvement of the sector.
Regional development agency Gorenjska, BSC Kranj participated in the event showing recent achievements of STEPPING project in developing an EPC investment scheme adapted to Mediterranean area. Key representatives of national and international organizations were able to get a closer look upon the outcomes, difficulties and solutions in a relaxed atmosphere of the exhibition café and during a round table discussion on the second day of the event. Introductory speech was done by Dominique Ristori, Director General for Energy of the European Commission, and a representative of the Slovenian Ministry of the Environment. Inspirational closing speech belonged to Pierre-Jean Coulon, Chairman of the Section on Transport, Energy, Infrastructure and the Information Society of the European Economic and Social Committee.
