Diputación de Huelva, STEPPING pproject’s partner has outsourced energy audits in 17 educational centers in the province of Huelva. On December 2018, the results of 8 audits were received, being the forecast for the reception of the remaining the first half of January 2019.
At present, the results of the available audits are being analyzed from the Department of Environment and Energy of the entity, in order to determine the technical, economic and financial viability of the proposed measures.
On the other hand, during the January 2019 is scheduled to hold meetings with policy makers, financiers and municipal technicians to present the results of the energy studies conducted and agree on the next steps to follow for the call for the Energy Performance Contract (EPC) to be implemented within the STEPPING project.
Diputación de Huelva has proposed this Energy Performance Contract (EPC) as a pilot project in the province of Huelva, through which municipal responsible can observe the economic, environmental and management benefits of this contract model. That is why, we opted for energy saving measures that had a short return period of investment (less than 10 years) and, therefore, with actions whose investment volume was not high.
Among the main measures proposed in the audits are:
- Installation of photovoltaic solar panels, in order to reduce the energy consumption of the existing supply, consuming the energy produced by the panels.
- Adaptation of the electricity supply contract to the consumption of the facilities
- Replacement of luminaires with others of low consumption (LED).
- Installation of presence detectors
