On the 9th of October, Malta Intelligent Energy Management Agency (MIEMA) together with the Gozo Business Chamber (GBC) hosted a dissemination event in connection with the European projects, BuS.Trainers (Erasmus+) and STEPPING. The event was centred around the topic of boosting skills related to energy efficiency and green energy in the local construction industry. During the event, Maltese and Gozitan public entities and stakeholders had the opportunity to exchange experience and get to know about activities linked to building up skills in the construction sector.
In the welcome speech, the President of Gozo Business Chamber, Mr Joseph Borg, stressed on the importance of adopting a more sustainable and holistic approach in construction, especially in the hectic scenario in which the Maltese construction industry is at the moment.
The event concluded with a presentation of Architect Erika Massa from MIEMA about the Interreg MED project, STEPPING. The presentation was followed by a round table discussion the EPC contracts challenges and its adoption to the Maltese context. The architect highlighted the opportunities for the Maltese energy and construction sectors resulting from the uptake of the EPC contracts, as the creation of new sector companies specialised in the energy retrofitting of buildings (so called ESCOs).
